Paintworks wins Insider South West Residential Development of the Year

Paintworks in Bristol has won Residential Development of the Year at the Insider South West Property Awards 2018.

Delivered by Design Delivery Unit for Crest Nicholson South West and Verve Properties Ltd, this scheme saw housing and a mixture of small artisan commercial units being delivered to the site of the former Victorian paint and varnish factory.

Paintworks has been designed by Stride Treglown and comprises of 137 Apartments, 75 townhouses and 9 live work units. 6,700 sq m commercial space across 7 buildings. Design Delivery Unit were appointed by the client to optimise and deliver the planning scheme on this new urban quarter of Bristol.

The Insider judges were particularly impressed by the placemaking of Paintworks.

In addition to the optimisation of the plans to suit the client’s brief, Design Delivery Unit’s real added value was realised through the design of the public realm. We undertook additional services beyond the working drawings to collaborate with the client and local artists to enhance the public realm design to stitch together the complex series of pedestrianised spaces for the residents and visitors.
